Hey everyone! I just completed 4 weeks of training camp and I’m currently in North Carolina for a 2 week mission trip. I haven’t got a a chance to update anyone on training camp, so I wanted to give everyone a glimpse of what life has looked like the past month.

Week 1

The first week of training camp was by far the hardest. It started out with me packing up and having to tell my friends and family bye for the next 9 months. Once arriving onto the Adventures Base I was overwhelmed with every emotion possible and it was surreal that I was actually apart of the World Race. Even as hard & challenging the first week was I was thankful God brought me here.

Week 1 consisted of:

  • bucket showers
  • sleeping in a tent
  • washing clothes in buckets
  • washing dishes outside
  • trying food from different cultures
  • using porta potties
  • getting to know my squad mates
  • team building activities
  • discovering a vending machine ( which was a gold mine for my squad haha )
  • & no technology from 9-6

Week 2

Rolling into week 2 I started to get in the routine of what training camp would like, which is:

  • Morning Devo
  • Breakfast
  • worship
  • sessions
  • lunch
  • personal time
  • sessions
  • dinner
  • personal time

During the 4 weeks it was a time of learning, being challenged, growing a deeper relationship with the Lord, & diving into community with my squad mates! Over the course of training camp I was challenged and stretched beyond what I could imagine and it was just a sweet time of growth.

Week 2 consisted of:

  • evangelism
  • getting to use a real shower
  • squad wars
  • & a trip to target & walmart

Week 3

Week 3 looked exactly like the other 2 weeks but everyday just kept getting easier to adjust to this new life. By far, week 3 was my fav! Even though we didn’t do much it was such a sweet time with the Lord and my team.

Week 3 consisted of :

  • hiking my first mountain; Mount Yona
  • getting to do a ministry project which consisted of yard work
  • & trips to the gas station for snacks

Week 4

Week 4 and the final week of training camp was so good and alot slower. I got to spend more time with my teammates and was able to process what the Lord has been doing over the past month.

Week 4 consisted of :

  • water color painting
  • team building ropes course with my teammates
  • going to the lake
  • target & Walmart again
  • lots of hammocking
  • & just preparing for North Carolina

That was just a snippet of what the past month has looked like and I wouldn’t change it for the world. During my time here at training camp I have grown a deeper understanding of the goodness of God, my eyes have been opened more, & I’ve gotten to build relationships with the people on my squad. It has been so hard but so sweet at the same time. Now I’m currently in North Carolina and I will be here for 2 weeks for a mission trip! So if everyone could just be praying over my team, the ministry partners, & the people we’ll be reaching. An update of North Carolina will be soon!!

With love,

Charytie
